Description of Layout: My railroad is a fictionalized view of what a short portion of the Illinois Central Gulf could have looked like in Southern Illinois. Locations are not real but I have tried to present th feel of the area. The railroad’s primary cargoes are Coal and Corn; and appropriate industries are modeled. The era is intended to capture the time shortly after the merger of the IC and the Gulf Mobile & Ohio with IC, GM&O, and ICG equipment in use.
It was initially designed and built as a continuous run ‘folded dog bone’ configuration. But I am in the process of adding staging outside the room to allow for some point-to-point running.
