Description of Layout
Focus is on Ann Arbor Railroad in July 1955. Main operation is in Cadillac, Michigan. There is a single track mainline with two passing tracks. The layout was featured in Great Model Railroads 2026.
There are 450 trees on the layout. There are Tectum sound absorbing bulkheads above the bench-work. All lighting is fluorescent. There is a five track staging yard in the adjacent room. Cadillac has a five track switch yard with several local industries, including Chris Craft Boat Company.
Over the past year the layout has been undergoing a slow disassembly. The 44″ H. lower level and helix connecting the two levels has been removed. The 55″ level remains and runs around the entire room perimeter.
Visitors are welcome to run and switch freight trains! Questions about the future of this layout are welcome!
