Description of Layout:

The Superior Northern incorporates the operations and tracks of the DSS&A, CNW and LS&I railroads operating around 1960 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Major towns included are Sault Ste. Marie, St. Ignace, Newberry, Marquette, Munising, and Ishpeming. The SN is 30′ x 40′ double-decked layout featuring some signature scenes in the Upper Peninsula, including the DSS&A ore dock in Marquette, Cliffs Mine in Ishpeming, Seney Wildlife Refuge, and the Chief Wawatam in St. Ignace. Steel stud framework is featured throughout. Trains that are run include a mix of through and local freights as well as a significant amount of iron ore trains serving the various mines and the dock in Marquette. Three yards are also featured:Soo Yard in Sault Ste, Marie, East Yard and the Upper Ore Yard in Marquette.
